Service of Acute geriatrics
The geriatrics department at Beaujon Hospital comprises an Acute Geriatrics Unit (UGA), an Intra-hospital Geriatrics Mobile Team (EMGI) and an Extra-hospital Geriatrics Mobile Team (EMGE), as well as a consultation service.
The Acute Geriatrics Unit (UGA) is a short-stay unit comprising 22 beds, taking in elderly patients ( ≥ 75 years) with polypathology for the management of an acute pathology, a decompensation of a chronic pathology or more specifically a geriatric syndrome (repeated falls, acute confusion, malnutrition, wounds ...).
Mainly admitted via the emergency department, direct admissions from the town are possible on request from GPs in the area.
The Equipe Mobile Gériatrique Intra Hospitalière (EMGI) offers diagnostic, therapeutic and referral advice for patients aged ≥ 75 years hospitalized in the medical, surgical and emergency departments at Beaujon Hospital. An advanced practice nurse also works on the wards to ensure safe discharge from hospital.
The geriatrics department at Beaujon Hospital also includes a Equipe Mobile Extra Hospitalière (EMGE) which works in the region's EHPADs and in the emergency department, and collaborates with town structures to optimize the care pathway.
