Service of Biophysics and nuclear medicine

The biophysics and nuclear medicine department performs diagnostic examinations. The examinations are carried out, most of the time, after intravenous injection of a very low-dose radioactive product, which studies the organ to be explored.

The department's equipment consists of two gamma cameras including one hybrid, a PET (positron emission tomograph), a bone densitometry, and a platform for in vivo functional explorations. 

The most frequently performed examinations are scans (cardiac, pulmonary, renal etc...) and F-FDG and F-FCHOLINE PET scans.

The most frequently performed functional explorations are blood mass measurements, platelet lifetimes, white blood cell labeling and glomerular filtration rate measurements.

The department's team (medical and paramedical) is coordinated by the department head, Pr Emmanuel Durand (PU-PH). 

Patients are received and cared for by:

• the medical team comprising 4 nuclear medicine specialists (2 MCU-PH, 1 PH and 1 AHU), and 2 cardiologists,
• the paramedical team comprising radio manipulators, 2 radiopharmacists and radiophysicists, 3 medical secretaries, 3 nursing assistants and a laboratory technician.
