Service of Cardiology

The Cardiology Department welcomes you to Hôpital Saint Antoine in Paris. It specializes in the management of cardiovascular diseases, and comprises three hospitalization sectors (intensive care, general cardiology and day hospital). A Cardiovascular Functional Investigation Technical Center carries out all the examinations required for the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases (cardiac ultrasound, including transoesophageal, stress ultrasound, vascular Doppler ultrasound, stress test, ambulatory blood pressure measurement, short-, medium- and long-term Holter-ECG recording). The technical platform also includes an exploratory room for diagnostic coronary angiography, as well as pacemaker insertion. The department's consultation service welcomes patients suffering from a wide range of cardiac pathologies, as well as specialized consultations (phlebology, cardiac rhythm disorders, pacemaker testing). The cardiology department is particularly specialized in the management of the most common cardiac arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, heart failure patients (suffering from shortness of breath), and cardio-metabolic disorders, including the cardiovascular repercussions of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Three recently-developed features of the cardiology department's work can be highlighted: screening for familial hypercholesterolemia (excess fat in the blood), diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy at cardiovascular risk, and therapeutic education in various fields: arterial hypertension, anticoagulant treatment, heart failure.
