Service of Dermatology clinical immunology
The Dermatology-Clinical Immunology Functional Unit, located on the 6th floor of the hospital, includes a consultation, a day hospital and a 10-bed dermatology full hospitalization ward.
Patients seen here have a wide range of dermatological conditions, including inflammatory diseases (psoriasis, atopic or contact eczema), bullous diseases (bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus), severe skin infections (erysipelas, infectious cellulitis), toxidermia, wounds and scarring (ulcers, perforating sores), skin cancers (melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma) that are about to undergo surgery, receive chemotherapy/immunotherapy or are metastatic.
A close link exists with emergency physicians, who have a strong recruitment of dermatological emergencies (infectious pathologies, wounds, toxidermia), as well as with rheumatologists who share the same hospitalization wing of the department (psoriasis, autoimmune diseases). For wounds and scarring, a real dynamic exists in the hospital with several teams: vascular surgeons, diabetologists, geriatricians. So it's easy to learn how to use different types of dressing. A mobile team of infectious diseases specialists and intensive care units are closely involved in the treatment of serious infectious diseases.
About 50% of hospitalized patients are treated for skin tumors (melanoma, epithelial carcinoma). Patients with operable tumors, at operative risk or for major procedures that cannot be managed on an outpatient basis, are hospitalized to supervise the operation. In the case of metastatic tumors, chemotherapy or immunotherapy is carried out on a full hospital ward. Finally, close collaboration with the Mobile Palliative Care Team enables us to learn about the specificities of caring for cancer patients during treatment (pain, psychology) and at the end of life.
This service is attached to the University Medical Department (DMU) n°7 "Endocrinology-Immunities-Inflammations-Cancer-Urgency"
For initial consultations, appointments via the AP-HP patient area are to be preferred.
