Service of Gynecology-Obstetrics

The gynecology-obstetrics department at Hôpital Antoine-Béclère (Pr Alexandra Benachi) comprises several departments.

It provides a comprehensive range of care. 
 

  • A gynecological surgery unit headed by Pr Xavier Deffieux, whose activity includes functional surgery in gynecology but also oncology. A pelvi-perineology activity with a varied range of treatments (urodynamic assessment, laser, radio-frequency...)
  • A type 3 maternity unit, with 3,600 births per year, specializing in the care of high-risk patients due to their history and/or presenting previous or pregnancy-related pathologies. The maternity unit is a referral center for patients with sickle cell disease, collagen pathologies and kidney pathologies, among others... It is also a sector maternity unit for the southern 92 and neighboring départements.
  • A Pluridisciplinary Center for Prenatal Diagnosis, headed by Dr Julien Saada, in liaison with Bicêtre Hospital for monitoring fetal pathologies (genetic, malformations, infections...). The antenatal diagnostics team is also trained to perform in utero treatments for certain rare malformations. Close collaboration with the Centre Chirurgical Marie-Lannelongue enables the care of mothers whose fetus carries a heart defect.
  • A Centre de Référence Maladies Rares : Hernie de Coupole diaphragmatique
  • A Unité de Planification et d'Education Familiale, headed by Dr Stéphanie Pozzi-Gaudin, with orthogénie (contraception and Interruption Volontaire de Grossesse) and prevention activities.


The Gynecology-Obstetrics department works in conjunction with Prof. Michael Grynberg's reproductive medicine department and Prof. Nelly Frydman's reproductive biology unit.
