Service of Hepatology

The Hepatology Department at Beaujon Hospital is part of the Institut du cancer AP-HP. Nord Université Paris Cité, as well as the DMedico Uuniversity department (DMU) DIGEST and is dependent on the Université Paris Cité.

This department is essentiallydedicated to the management of liver and biliary tract diseases.

His department head is Pr François Durand.

The department's main orientations are:

  • Viral hepatitis;
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma;
  • Vascular diseases of the liver (with an accredited reference center);
  • Dysmetabolic steatopathies ;
  • portal hypertension;
  • severe complications of cirrhosis (including complications requiring resuscitation);
  • acute liver failure;
  • and liver transplantation.

This department comprises:

  • 24 conventional hospitalization beds
  • 12 weekday hospital beds
  • 7 day hospital beds
  • 8 resuscitation beds


The department's resuscitation unit is twinned with the hospital's hepato-digestive resuscitation unit for a total of 16 beds.

The Hepatology Department has care, teaching and research objectives. Research activity is based on collaboration with research units at Paris Diderot University, with Inserm and with international units.
