Service of Infectious and tropical diseases

The Infectious and Tropical Diseases Department at Saint-Antoine Hospital comprises three sectors: 1) a conventional hospitalization sector (36 beds) with a mobile infectiology team;2)an outpatient sector with a day hospital (3 beds), an infectious pathology consultation (including HIV and viral hepatitis), an international vaccination center, a travel advice consultation and a CEGIDD (with access to PREP) ; 3) a clinical research sector managing cohort studies and therapeutic and vaccine clinical trials in the fields of bacteriology, HIV and viral hepatitis

  • The department's poles of expertise bring together the management of complex community infections and the immunocompromised patient, in a continuum of care in prevention - screening / diagnosis - treatment. Conventional hospitalization ensures the post-emergency care of patients with these pathologies, but also as a direct entry channel at the request of outpatient physicians.
  • The outpatient department offers consultations (with day hospitalization if required) in infectious pathology, both in the field of chronic infections with HIV or hepatitis B and C viruses, and in the prevention and treatment of bacterial, viral or fungal infections (including tuberculosis and sexually transmitted infections). Accidents resulting from blood or sexual exposure to a viral risk are also treated here (post-exposure treatment), as are tropical pathologies on return from travel.
  • The service hosts a CeGIDD (Centre Gratuit d'Information, de Dépistage et de Diagnostic) with the aim of a global approach to sexual health : 1) Free, walk-in screening for HIV, viral hepatitis A, B, C and multi-site STIs, with secondary care if necessary. Tests can be nominative or anonymous, at the user's discretion. Results are given in person, during an interview. Depending on the case, consultants are referred if necessary to a Gynecologist, a Midwife, a Proctologist or a specialist in sexuality issues consulting the service. 2) Vaccination against hepatitis A and B and against Papillomavirus offered free of charge, if necessary. 3) Consultations for Pre-exposure Prophylaxis against HIV (PREP), for those most at risk.
  • Appointments can be booked via the service's e-mail: rdv-consultation.smit@aphp.fr: mentioning your full name, date of birth, reason for visit and telephone number so that our team can call you back.
