Service of Medical oncology

Specializing in the treatment of cancers of the digestive tract and ovary, with 3 hospitalization sectors (continuous, weekly and outpatient), the Saint-Antoine Medical Oncology Department is part of the Digestive Pole of the Saint-Antoine Hospital, and groups together all services specialized in the treatment of digestive tract pathologies. In line with the French Cancer Plan, our team is committed to multi-disciplinary expertise (multi-disciplinary consultation meetings) and decision-making. Each patient's file is reviewed in a meeting with all specialists to determine the most appropriate treatment for a given patient (chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, interventional radiology, etc.). Wherever possible, the optimum goal is to achieve a cure. The team also emphasizes a human approach to oncology, where relationships and communication between patient and medical staff are an essential component of care. The oncology department team itself is made up of a number of complementary contributors (oncology and gastroenterology physicians and pain specialists, health care managers, secretaries, nursing staff and care assistants, psychologists, socio-aestheticians, dieticians, social workers, clinical research associates) whose collaboration aims to do their utmost to provide optimum support throughout the patient's care pathway, in a care approach that is both technical (medical-surgical) and focused on the patient's well-being and comfort. The department and hospital are also particularly committed to clinical research in digestive oncology. All the department's doctors will be able to offer you the chance to take part in therapeutic trials, giving you access to innovative therapies that will directly benefit every patient in the course of their treatment. This has been made possible by the creation of a research and collaboration network that today enables us to participate in trials at the highest international level.
