Service of Neurophysiology

The Neurophysiology Department at Hôpital Saint-Antoine carries out the following Neurological Functional Investigations:
EEG : Electroencephalogram. The EEG is used primarily to diagnose and monitor epilepsy and to explore confusion and disorders of consciousness.
EMG: Electromyogram. EMGs look for signs of nerve or muscle dysfunction and help diagnose neuromuscular diseases. We perform EMGs of the limbs and face. We do not perform EMG of the perineum or larynx.
EMA : Recording of abnormal movements. EMA helps diagnose tremors, myoclonus and dystonia. 
PE: Evoked potentials: PEV: visual evoked potentials; PEA: auditory evoked potentials; PES : somatosensory evoked potentials; PEM: motor evoked potentials. EPs look for visual, auditory, sensory or motor nervous system dysfunction. 
The Neurophysiology Department offers expert diagnosis and management of patients with abnormal movements as part of a day hospitalization. It combines a recording of abnormal movement, a pain assessment and an occupational therapist evaluation, completed if necessary by a therapeutic procedure using botulinum toxin.
