Service of Neurosurgery

The Neurosurgery department, with its 14 hyper-specialized neurosurgeons, handles all cranial pathologies:

  • Tumor pathologies (meningiomas, gliomas, glioblastomas, neurinomas, craniopharyngiomas, pituitary adenoma, brain metastases...),
  • Vascular pathologies (arteriovenous malformations, dural aneurysm fistulas),
  • Hydrocephalus,
  • Cranial trauma,
  • Parkinson's disease and abnormal movements,
  • Surgery for drug-resistant epilepsy
  • Lumbar and cervical spine surgery (herniated disc and narrow canal)
  • Stereotactic surgery
  • .GammaKnife radiosurgery

The department welcomes neurosurgical emergencies from Paris and the Ile de France region 24 hours a day.Tel: 01 42 16 36 90.
Short circuits are set up to meet urgent needs (ruptured aneurysm, brain biopsy, ..).
Hotline Meningeal Hemorrhage direct circuit on weekdays (Dr Nouet, 01 84 82 77 57 ).
Hotline Cerebral Stereotactic Biopsies direct circuit on weekdays (Dr Mathon, 01 84 82 73 63).
Hotline Acute Hydrocephalus direct circuit on weekdays (Dr Boch, 01 42 16 33 15.

The department comprises:

  • A Consultation located on the upper first floor level of the Babinski building
  • 4 90-bed inpatient units on the 1st, 2nd and 4th floors of the Babinski building
  • A Ambulatory Surgery Unit on the lower ground floor of the Babinski building
  • A GammaKnife® Région Ile de France Radiosurgery Unit on the 1st basement floor of the Castaigne building
  • 5 operating theatres equipped with the latest technologies (neuronavigation, stereotaxis, CT scanner, ...)

Its research and trials of new therapies are internationally at the forefront in the fields of Therapeutic Ultrasound, meningiomas, Parkinson's, epilepsy, brain tumors, intracranial neurinomas, neurofibromatosis,...
The department collaborates with leading international centers (UCLA, UCSF, MDAnderson, Yale, ...)

The department's surgeons lead and are behind the creation of the following entities:

  • Sorbonne University's Interface Neuro Machine clinical research group
  • National Rare Disease Center on Neurofibromatosis
  • Laboratory for Research in Advanced Surgical Technologies
  • ICM's iCRIN research team
  • Humanitarian surgical aid in Benin and Madagascar
