Service of Nuclear medicine

Site: Port-Royal
Building: Copernic
Floor: Level -1

The university hospital team is made up of nuclear physicians, some of whom are organ specialists, and radiology manipulators, to produce the images.

The unit, fully renovated in 2019, has two digital PET scanners, two gamma cameras coupled with a CT scanner, two ultrasound-doppler scanners, and an inpatient sector for Internal Radiotherapy. This department carries out over 12,000 procedures a year.

This equipment is served by a state-of-the-art Radiopharmacy laboratory, which can dispense most of the tracers used in PET, scintigraphy and therapy. They enable high-performance management of most pathologies explored in nuclear medicine, includingoncology, endocrinology, cardiology, pulmonology, uronephrology and osteoarticular diseases.

The nuclear medicine department and radiopharmacy unit are certified to ISO 9001.

We perform the following imaging examinations:
Conventional nuclear medicine
Thyroid scans (iodine 123, MIBI)
Parathyroid scans (MIBI, 18FCholine)
Bone scans
Lung scans (ventilation, perfusion)
Cardiac cintigraphies
Renal cintigraphies
Labeled leukocyte cintigraphy
Sentinel lymph node cintigraphy

TEP-scanner ("PETscan")
18FDG PET
18FDOPA PET
18Fcholine PET
68Ga-DOTATOC PET
68Ga-PSMA PET and 18F- PSMA PET

The department's SCAN PETs, upgraded in 2023, are EARL accredited (ResEARch 4 Life) for examinations performed at 18F and 68Ga. This accreditation enables participation in multicenter studies.

Internal vectorized radiation therapy
This department is hyperspecialized in isotopic treatments, particularly in endocrinology (131I) and oncology.

  • Outpatient dosimetric treatments for hyperthyroidism (131I)
  • Day hospital for low-risk goiters and thyroid cancers (MINIDOSES, 20 mCi)

The department also has 4 inpatient rooms intended for internal radiotherapy in the following cases:

  • Treatment of thyroid cancers (Iodine-131, high activity)
  • Treatment of neuroendocrine tumors with Lutathera-177Lu
  • Treatment of certain prostate cancers with PSMA-177Lu
  • Treatment with 90Yttrium microspheres
