Service of Pediatric resuscitation

The Pediatric Resuscitation and Continuous Monitoring department at the hôpital Robert-Debré, located on level (-3) point jaune, is the hospital's only intensive care unit dedicated to infants and older children. In 2006, it was awarded the "Specialized Pediatric Intensive Care Unit label, like some fifteen other units in France to date, due to the volume of its activity and Robert-Debré Hospital's highly advanced medical-technical environment, providing access to virtually all the specialties and care techniques available in pediatrics today.
This label has since been confirmed twice, by an on-site visit from the Agence régionale d'hospitalisation and the Direction des affaires sanitaires et sociales d'Ile-de-France in 2009, and by the Agence régionale de santé following analysis of the activity file in January 2013.
The department hospitalizes over 800 patients every year, 550 in resuscitation and 350 in continuous monitoring. More than 90% of resuscitation patients receive mechanical ventilatory assistance either through an intubation tube or using a mask at least once during their stay: this is the main reason for hospitalization in pediatric resuscitation. Around 30 patients remain hospitalized for almost three months in the intensive care unit, mainly because they require very prolonged ventilatory assistance that they cannot receive as it is at home.
